Founded in 1967, the Kentucky Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators, Inc. (KASFAA) is a dynamic professional organization established to serve practitioners, users, and providers of student financial aid programs. This effort occurs in an environment of shaping of ideas--thus promoting opportunities, equity, and access in and to higher education.
Professional development can be considered the heart of any professional association. The impetus for the initial organization of such a group relates to the common interests of a number of people, combined with a common desire to improve professional skills. KASFAA addresses this goal by continuous assessment of professional development needs and by offering annual meetings, workshops, and other growth opportunities.
With currently 325 members, KASFAA has taken the responsibility to inform its associates of legislative issues affecting the operation or administration of student financial aid and the delivery of funds to students attending post-secondary institutions. In fulfilling its communication responsibility to its membership, KASFAA continues to outline and delineate alternative approaches for addressing the issues and concerns affecting the student financial aid profession. Whenever reasonable consensus exists on issues, the association has the responsibility to advocate support for these positions on behalf of the membership.
Working with all sectors of KASFAA’s financial aid community helps to ensure representation and participation in all associational programs and activities. Examples of activities include high school counselors training workshops, College Goal Sunday, a financial aid call-in show on KET, proclamation of Financial Aid Awareness Month, semi-annual conferences, and workshops for financial aid professionals. As a dynamic professional organization, KASFAA was established to serve the commonwealth in the promotion and administration of student aid initiatives.
