College Goal KentuckySM provides free help to Kentucky Students filing for financial aid

To increase chances of receiving aid, students must file the FAFSA form as soon as possible after October 1.

College Goal Kentucky, a FAFSA completion initiative, which provides free help to families applying for college financial aid, will take place at several locations across the state starting in September 2021 through spring 2022. Site locations and times vary. Visit the Locations page for dates and times. At each site student will be able to enter a statewide drawing for four (4) $500.00 scholarships that can be used at any Kentucky school.

At College Goal Kentucky, financial aid professionals from Kentucky will help students and families complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The FAFSA is the form students must submit to receive federal and state student aid.

College Goal Kentucky is sponsored by the Kentucky Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (KASFAA).

“This is a premier event that provides Kentuckians with both informational and financial resources to reach their postsecondary educational goals,” said KASFAA President Angie Black. “With the assistance of the financial aid experts at College Goal Kentucky a student can submit the FAFSA in timely manner enabling them to qualify for thousands of dollars in financial aid, as well as, a variety of grants and loans.”

In Kentucky, grant and scholarship programs help thousands of students every year. Students who file the FAFSA as soon as possible beginning October 1st have the best chance of receiving these funds.

What to bring to FAFSA Completion Events Advertised by College Goal Kentucky

Students are encouraged to attend College Goal Kentucky with a parent or guardian. They should bring their and their parents completed 2020 IRS 1040 tax return and any other income and benefits information. If families haven't completed their taxes, financial aid professionals will be able to help fill out the rest of the FAFSA and give instructions for the financial portion. Everything else pens, pencils and FAFSA worksheets will be provided.
