President's Welcome
The KASFAA Program Committee invites you to attend the Fall 2010 conference, “KASFAA–Blazing New Trails”. As the start of the fall term begins to fade from memory, I’m sure we all feel as though we’ve blazed a new financial aid trail or two. Join us as we talk about some of the new journeys we’ve embarked on, and how we might smooth out some of the rough spots in the future. The conference will be held October 13-15 at the Holiday Inn Hurstbourne in Louisville. The Program Committee has worked hard to bring you relevant, useful, and interesting sessions, and we hope you’ll join us for a few days of networking and learning.
In addition to four sets of concurrent sessions, we are pleased to be welcoming David Bartnicki from the U.S. Department of Education back to Kentucky! We will kick off the conference with part one of the Federal Update at the opening session, and will round out the conference with part two of the Federal Update on Friday morning. You definitely won’t want to miss his important and always interesting sessions!
New KASFAA members are encouraged to attend the New Member Workshop on Wednesday, October 13. This workshop will allow new members to meet some experienced KASFAA members, and will also provide an intensive introduction to the financial aid profession. More information regarding this event will be forthcoming from Robin Buchholz, membership chair, so watch your e-mail for details.
For the first time, KASFAA will offer a one-day conference rate. You are welcome to choose the day you wish to attend, and pay only $50 (plus membership dues, if not already paid) to attend all functions and sessions that day. We hope this will make it possible for more members to participate in our conference.
Conference registration is now open! The hotel group rate is an amazing $84.90 per night plus tax, but you must make your reservation by Friday, October 1. Be sure to mention the group name, KSF. We look forward to seeing you in Louisville!
Happy Trails,
Dave Cecil
