Statement of Candidacy:
I am thrilled to be nominated for KASFAA President-elect. This association has
been an invaluable influence on my entire professional life. As a new financial aid administrator I relied on my KASFAA
colleagues for training, development, networking and encouragement. It is truly an honor to have those same mentors ask me
to serve KASFAA in this leadership role. I am enthusiastic about this opportunity to give back to the association that has
given so much to me. I trust that we will continue our mission to “establish a community of members who through the sharing
of ideas, professional competencies, and experiences would serve more ethically and effectively the diverse needs of students,
parents, and institutions”. (Read the entire Mission and Vision Statements here.) In my ten
years of membership I can honestly say that KASFAA has always lived up to these statements, which makes this decision an easy
one. It is with great pride that I accept the nomination for President-elect.
Statement of Candidacy:
It is an honor to be nominated for the position of Vice President. KASFAA has
been a constant source of support during my financial aid career. I have developed a wonderful network of friends and
colleagues through my involvement with KAASFAA. The KASFAA mission statement speaks of sharing ideas, experiences and
professional competencies and serving the diverse needs of students, parents and institutions. I support and believe in
this mission. If elected, I will do my best to represent the financial aid community by continuing to encourage the sharing
of ideas and experiences. Through sharing and involvement we can continue the longstanding KASFAA traditions.

profession and I'm grateful for the opportunity to continue that tradition and further my growth and the growth of its members
through this role.
Thank you for the nomination to serve as KASFAA secretary again. I am enjoying this role and will continue to do my best if re-elected. In the past I have co-chaired the College Goal Sunday Committee and the High School Counselor Workshop Committee. I also served on those committees in supporting roles before assuming duties of the chair. I have worked at the University of Kentucky in the Student Financial Aid Office for over 25 years. I believe in what we do as financial aid administrators – we help people realize their dreams. I am our office’s principal accountant but I enjoy the students in my counseling caseload more than anything. I hold a bachelor of business administration degree from the University of Kentucky.

While working in the financial aid arena, I have kept up to date on the changes

I am willing
to continue my learning of not only financial aid, but of the whole post secondary education field. I attended the 2011 APSCP
Leadership Conference where I met many people from the private sector. This sector of the post secondary education field is
under very intense scrutiny and I am pleased to profess that I am unwilling to mislead a student in anyway.
While serving
the board, I will be diligent in my pursuit to defend and represent the private sector as I realize that some students are in
need of this type of education while others may be better suited to the public options.
